Arnaud Laffond’s Reality is the third selected animated short selected for our SV Showcase by curated by RVSVR.
Drawing from a realm of psychedelic colors, science fiction, and soothing rhythms, Arnaud Laffond uses virtual reality as a tool to draw attention to the fine line between our real and imagined environments. He draws from dichotomies inherent in reality – abstraction and representationalism, utopia and dystopia, architecture and landscape – to produce realms that exist between reality and virtuality.
His work is constantly tiptoeing between boundaries to produce lavish, bold, and glitchy reinterpretations of form and matter that place us in the in between, a no man’s land. Despite the increasingly blurred line between our real and imagined environments, in addition to our physical and digital identities, Laffond’s piece is entitled “Reality,” walking the blurry and fine line between.
You can see more of his work on the SVLA1 screen in downtown Los Angeles, at 901 W Olympic Blvd. every Thursday – Sunday from 9pm-Midnight through July 2, or on his instagram here
